Since 1949, String has created and produced high-quality furniture with a Scandinavian design. The design, which has a timeless look, is just as important as the functionality. Maybe you’ve heard of the iconic String Shelf? The product is a true example of sustainability – it is sustainable, has a timeless design, and uses materials that last for generations.
Our collaboration with String Furniture started several years ago, when they continuously purchased stretch film machines and stretch film from Boxon. In 2022, the collaboration grew, as a personal meeting resulted in the replacement of stretch film and the purchase of customer-specific boxes, strapping machines, and corrugated cardboard shredders.
As sustainability is an obvious common thread within String Furniture, they wanted to investigate how they could reduce their plastic use and waste. String Furniture decided to switch to lightweight REUSE stretch film, which is made from recycled plastic. This lead to 53 % less virgin plastic and 52 % lower costs.
They also wanted to produce their padding material locally. This was achieved by reusing old cardboard packaging. String Furniture chose Boxon's corrugated cardboard shredder, which has so far reduced their paper waste by about 60 %. Simply a WIN-WIN solution.
In 2022, our goal was to reduce plastic and waste. Together with Boxon, which has been fantastic in its efforts to present alternatives, we found out that we could reduce our use of plastic enormously. And still save money. Boxon also provided us with a corrugated cardboard shredder that makes shock-absorbing material from used cardboard. This led to a significant reduction in waste, and we save money by not having to buy new cardboard cushioning.
Five stars for Boxon! says Erik Eriksson, Teamleader Warehouse String Furniture.
I really appreciate the collaboration with String Furniture. My contact persons and I work very well and closely together. This is an excellent example of how Boxon wants to work with its customers – Winning together," says Karin Dahlberg, Account Manager at Indoor Sales Boxon.
