Nomeco, a Danish company and part of the Phoenix Group, specializes in healthcare logistics. They offer a broad range of services as a pharmaceutical wholesaler, distributor, and service partner for the pharmaceutical industry.
The collaboration on packaging solutions between Boxon and Nomeco began in 2015. In 2023, Nomeco entered into a new agreement to expand cooperation with Boxon to more countries. This partnership emphasizes shared business goals, particularly a strong focus on sustainability. Both companies prioritize sustainability efforts, which has deepened their relationship over time. Nomeco has been awarded the EcoVadis Platinum medal and always collaborates with customers, clients, and partners to promote sustainable societal development.
Nomeco continually seeks innovative and sustainable solutions, aligning with Boxon's offerings. Together, they aim to enhance packaging needs while reducing environmental impact. Considering new EU packaging regulations, they have initiated several projects to reduce annual CO2 emissions from packaging.
One notable project involved reviewing Nomeco's consumption of stretch film. By switching from 15 my to 10 my stretch film, they achieved a 33% reduction in plastic consumption and CO2 emissions. This change also led to cost savings and more efficient handling for employees, as fewer roll changes are needed.
We are very satisfied with the new stretch film, which reduces our plastic consumption, the number of roll changes, and plastic costs. The film's thickness was reduced from 15 my to 10 my without causing issues for our two automatic film machines.
At Nomeco, we focus on sustainability while ensuring high quality in the distribution of our pharmaceutical products. Boxon shares this sustainability focus and is a proactive partner that understands our needs. We strive to set high standards, and together with Boxon, we are confident we can further reduce our plastic consumption in the future!" says Michael Grønning, Process Specialist at Nomeco.
From Boxon we are proud to deepen our collaboration with Phoenix Group, focusing on innovative and sustainable packaging solutions that significantly reduce environmental impact. Together, we are dedicated to driving sustainability in healthcare logistics across Europe." says Fredrik Mantin, Global Key Account Manager Industry & Acting COO at Boxon.
Nomeco is owned by PHOENIX, and successful pilot projects like this are planned to be expanded to other PHOENIX countries.
